Mother pleads for eyewitness as traffic cam was not activated at the time of the incident
Ms Jacelyn Wong, mother of the four-year-old girl who was killed in a car incident on 9 October at Bukit Batok, wrote a Facebook post on Thursday (23 November) pleading for witnesses of the accident.
Ms Wong’s daughter, Eleanor Si Xuan, was hit by a vehicle when she and their family domestic worker, Ms Su Su Hlaing, 37, were going home from school near their home that tragic day. Both of them were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Sadly, the girl passed away from her injuries.
Though the 53-year-old driver had been arrested, Ms Wong still needs more information regarding the incident.
On her post, she wrote, “We are urgently appealing for eyewitnesses or dash camera footage to a fatal road traffic accident involving a Proton vehicle number SGL 3672 U.”
According to Ms Wong, the incident took time at about 6.40 pm, in the direction of Bukit Batok West Avenue 2.
“I sincerely plead the public to help share this post around and those who are at this area during the time and date of accident to check your dash camera if you’ve managed to capture any footage of the vehicle,” she pleaded.
“Eye witnesses to come forward to provide information and let justice be done,” she added.
Ms Wong beseeched for members of the public who happen to have any information regarding the incident to call the family immediately at her number 98894542.
When one of the netizens asked whether she had tried to get any footage from traffic cam or bus cam, Ms Jacelyn Wong wrote that there is one at the junction, however, Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that it is not “activated”.
She also wrote her confusion regarding the incident, stating, “By the time of accident, the accident lane and the opposite direction lanes were all clear.”
“Only driver’s car alone. And they were not the only one crossing at that time also so I don’t know how,” she added.
According to the Police, the driver was arrested for causing death by a rash act.
