In a pioneering celebration of creativity and mental health awareness, Unlocking ADHD collaborated with Tay Guan Hin, the Creative Chairman of BBDO Singapore, to host “Where Art and ADHD Collide” at ARTitude Galería.

The event on April 22 was marked by the presence of notable guests including Lee Chen Ee, Group Director of Innovation and Transformation at Singapore Health Services, and Moonlake Lee, Executive Director of Unlocking ADHD.

This groundbreaking event featured live painting sessions by talented ADHD artists, highlighting their unique perspectives and abilities.

Among the artists was Khaitama D. Sun, known as Khai, who became Singapore’s first artist to perform live painting using drumsticks in a method that harmonizes the rhythm of words with art. His work, titled “Rhythmic Dance of Chaos,” was created using both hands simultaneously, showcasing his extraordinary skill.

Additionally, Rachel Elena Tng, an autistic ADHDer, captivated the audience with her live painting, “The World According To,” which was met with enthusiastic applause.

The event provided a platform not only for these artists to display their work but also for raising funds. Art pieces were auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting the artists and supporting the mission of Unlocking ADHD. The sales of Tay Guan Hin’s book “Collide,” which inspired the event’s theme, also contributed to the cause.

Lee Chen Ee commented on the significance of the event, saying, “It is most heartening that this event brings together individuals from all walks of life, for a common goal – to promote acceptance, awareness, and celebration of neurodiversity. I hope we can all continue supporting initiatives that promote a movement towards inclusion and understanding.”

Guan Hin Tay reflected on the event’s impact, noting, “This sensorial experience demonstrated how the unique thinking of individuals with ADHD could revolutionize the world, much like the unexpected fusion of ideas in my book ‘Collide’ leads to extraordinary creation.”

Moonlake Lee shared her enthusiasm, “We are delighted to be part of this unique event. Our aim is to celebrate the artistic talents of individuals with ADHD and foster an inclusive space for dialogue and understanding.”

The event curator, Ganesh Somwanshi, Founder of Mett.AI, highlighted the therapeutic and empowering role of art, “Art can empower people from all walks of life and serve as a healing element in everyday life. I am grateful to Tay Guan Hin for the opportunity to be part of this project.”

“Where Art and ADHD Collide” transcended traditional event formats, creating an inclusive space that fostered dialogue and appreciation for diverse talents. The evening was a significant step toward the acceptance, understanding, and celebration of neurodiversity, attracting a diverse audience including corporate leaders, educational pioneers, and community members who support creativity and inclusivity.
