Minister of Education (MOE) has announced that in 2018, it will be opening three new MOE Kindergartens (MKs) in Punggol, as an extension of the MK pilot, to cater to the high demand for pre-school places in the area.
MOE noted that this will bring the total number of pilot MKs to 18, up from the current 15.
The Ministry also stated that the new MKs will be co-located with Oasis Primary School, Punggol Cove Primary School and Waterway Primary School, with all three new MKs will offer a four-hour kindergarten programme.
“Full-day Kindergarten Care services will also be available for children from Mondays to Fridays, 7am to 7pm,” it noted.
Mr Ng Chee Meng, Minister for Education (Schools) said, “Over the past three years, our MOE Kindergartens have provided quality curriculum that is both enriching and affordable. I am encouraged by the positive feedback that I have received from parents so far.”
“The opening of these 3 new MKs, as an extension of our MK pilot, will help meet the rising demand of pre-school places of families with young children in growing estates like Punggol,” he added.
The Ministry also announced that the MK registration exercise for Kindergarten 1 (K1) admission in 2018 will be held over two time periods – 1 and 3 April 2017 (for 10 MKs), and 8 and 10 April 2017 (for the remaining 8 MKs).
“The registration exercise is open to Singaporean children born between 2 January 2013 and 1 January 2014, both dates inclusive,” it noted.
MOE said that interested parents are invited to visit the MK Open Houses on 1 April and 8 April to tour the facilities and learn more about the MKs (Click here for details of the Open House and registration exercise for each MK).
