Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung stated that since the launch of the SkillsFuture Credit one year ago, more than 126,000 Singaporean Citizens have used their SkillsFuture Credit.
This is his response to questions filed by Mr Melvin Yong from Tanjong Pagar GRC who asked the Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) on what is the breakdown in utilisation rate of SkillsFuture Credits according to the different age groups and whether the Ministry will consider allowing elderly citizens to transfer their credits to their younger immediate family members for skills upgrading.
The Minister noted that there is a good spread across the different age bands.

He also noted that the objective of the SkillsFuture Credit scheme is to send a strong signal to adult Singaporean Citizens to take charge of their own learning journey.
“This is an objective that is relevant to every Singaporean Citizen, whether young or old. Making the SkillsFuture Credit transferable will undermine this objective. Hence, it is not transferable,” he stressed.
More than two million citizens are eligible for the scheme, making the rate of uptake of about 6.3 percent seemingly low.
