Singapore Custom announced in a media release on Friday (9 September) that it has detained more than 1,300 pieces of suspected trademark infringing goods from a shipment that was imported form China to Singapore.
On 2 September 2016, Singapore Customs officers found an assortment of wallets, purses and bags suspected to be counterfeit goods of various popular brands during an inspection of a container at the Tanjong Pagar.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) was alerted by Singapore Customs. The Police then seized the items for further investigations.
Singapore Customs said that it does not condone such illegal trading activities and will take firm action against importers of counterfeit goods to ensure a robust intellectual property rights enforcement regime in Singapore.
