Train service was disrupted along the East-West MRT Line on Thursday evening (25 Feb) due to a fatal accident near Lavender station.
The incident occurred at about 9.30 pm between the Lavender and Kallang stations on the East-West Line towards Pasir Ris, said SMRT.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call for assistance at 5 Sims Avenue, adding that one person was pronounced dead at the scene by one of its paramedics.
The Straits Times reported that it understands that a person had intruded into the eastbound tunnel from a portal area at Lavender and was subsequently killed.
Earlier, SMRT tweeted at 10:01 pm that a service disruption had occurred due to a “train incident”.

It added that regular and bridging bus services — both free — are available between the two stations, which also covers Lavender MRT station as it is situated between Bugis and Aljunied.
No further information was provided.
It was reported that police cars and an ambulance were seen outside Lavender MRT station, which is closed.
In an update at 11:08pm, SMRT posted on its Facebook page regarding the incident.
“At about 9.30pm, an incident occurred between Lavender and Kallang stations on the East-West Line towards Pasir Ris. A person was subsequently pronounced dead on the east-bound track near Kallang MRT Station. SMRT Care Team is on the ground to assist our staff and the family members of the deceased when identified.” wrote the transport company.
