竞选期开跑，新加坡民主党不忘陆续介绍候选人，这两日就在脸书上推介了党主席淡马亚、党秘书长徐顺全、林文兴、达曼胡理、江伟贤和陈如斯。 作为民主党秘书长，徐顺全在提名日当晚就进行竞选演说，更是我国反对党中的知名人物，致力推动新加坡民主化。他也是拥有美国佐治亚大学哲学和神经心理学双博士学位，并曾在新加坡国立大学担任教授。 徐顺全曾经和美国最高法院大法官露丝·巴德·金斯堡（Ruth Bader Ginsburg）、钱美联储主席保罗·沃尔克（Paul Volcker）和前英国最高法院主席戴维·纽伯格（David Neuberger）一起合作了21本书，包括《21世纪的法治》。 此次并非他首次参选，他首次参加国家大选是在1992年。 毕业于国大医学院的党主席淡马亚（Paul Ananth Tambyah），曾到美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校受训，他是一家大型教学医院的医学教授和传染病医师高级顾问，更是亚太临床微生物学和感染病学会会长。 受到其父母的熏陶，淡马亚从小就接受社会正义方面的教育，也是我国人权组织MARUAH的草创人员。他非常关注我国弱势群体的福祉，尤其是患有慢性疾病的国人。…
