StarHub TV subscribers can breathe a sigh of relief now as the cable television operator announced that they’ve managed to secure the broadcasting rights to screen the rest of the season for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

In a statement last weekend, StarHub said that their subscribers will be able to enjoy the football seasons with no extra cost. The matches will be broadcasted live on their sports channel (IN SPORTS HD, Channel 213) with simultaneous matches screened on their other Hub sports channels.

“We are happy to reach an agreement to bring this season of the Uefa Champions League and Uefa Europa League to our customers,” said Mr Johan Buse, StarHub’s Chief of Consumer Business Group.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Singtel TV subscribers just yet. In response to the queries, Singtel says that it is working on the final touches for its own deal which they hope to announce very soon.

“Our priority is for our customers to continue enjoying the live coverage for both competitions,” said a spokesperson of Singtel TV to TODAY Online.

On the first day of the UEFA Champions League season, Singtel managed to secure the rights to broadcast five matches while StarHub said they were still in negotiations at the time.

So it appears that the uncertainty for this season is almost entire over. But we’re not sure if both StarHub and Singtel will have the same problems next season as it appears these recent deals that were struck are limited to only the current season.
