Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) announced earlier at around 8.30am on Wednesday (14 Dec) that due to a signalling fault, passengers were asked to expect for 10 minutes additional travelling time on its East-West Line (EWL) between Pasir Ris and Outram Park stations.

A moment later it said that it needed 20 minutes instead due to a signalling fault which occurred at Aljunied.

SMRT then advises it passengers to check its bus guides. There is no announcement on a free shuttle bus services during this disruption. The details can be seen here.

Around half an hour after its first tweet, SMRT said that the fault is cleared. However, passengers were asked to add 10 minutes additional travelling time.

At no point, was bus bridging service deployed by the company despite it being a mandatory condition stated by the Land Transport Authority when service disruption exceeds 5 minutes.

Passengers went to social media to express their disappointment. Many of them stating that the delay was in fact much more than 20 minutes.
