Report on Temasek Review

There is no truth to the news that Mr Tony Tan and the breakaway group of former Reform Party members are joining the Singapore People’s Party (SPP). Neither is the group “expected to officially submit their application for party membership on Saturday, 5th March.”

Mr Tan confirmed this with The Online Citizen today, Saturday.

Mr Tan is among the nine who resigned from the Reform Party in February.

He and his wife, Ms Hazel Poa, also a former RP member, met SPP secretary-general Mr Chiam See Tong earlier this week. The Today newspaper reported that the couple were “in discussions with Mr Chiam about contesting the GE under the SPP banner.”

The Temasek Review (TR) website, quoting “a reliable source”, reported Saturday – 5 March – that “former Reform Party (RP) members, Tony Tan Lay Thiam, his wife Ms Hazel Poa and Mr Jeisilan Sivalingam will be joining the Singapore People’s Party (SPP).”

The TR report says “the couple and gang… [are] expected to officially submit their application for party membership on Saturday, 5th March.”

Mr Tan says there is no truth to the report and that he and the group are keeping their options open.

UPDATE:

Temasek Review has since updated its report, Saturday, and made corrections to its original report. See here.
