In light of the recent ban on dining in at eateries and restaurants until 13 June, Suntec City has set aside designated eating areas for food delivery riders, safe distancing ambassadors, and other essential workers, with safety measures in place, it announced on Thursday (20 May).
The mall announced in a press release that it has designated the Food Republic and Big Appetite food courts to allow frontline workers to have their meals in a safe and conducive environment, as reported by ST.
“Safe management measures within these dining areas are in place and we hope this will play a small part in helping these essential personnel perform their roles during this difficult time,” it said.
The designated eating areas will be available for safe distancing ambassadors, safe management inspectors, enforcement officers, and food delivery riders.
In addition, Suntec City will also extend the grace period for parking on its premises to support delivery drivers and riders.
To help reduce operating costs for tenants, the mall said it will allow tenants to shorten store operating hours and provide rental support on a case-by-case basis.
ST reported that community centres and clubs in places like Braddell Heights, Kampong Kembangan, Kampong Ubi, Toa Payoh East and Woodlands have also set aside designated eating areas for essential workers.
Penning under the comment section of ST’s Facebook post, many netizens applauded Suntec City for supporting food delivery riders and other essential workers, urging others to do the same.
One netizen wrote: “Food delivery riders are also working very hard too. Sad to see them squatting down in a little corner without a proper place to digest their food n rest for a little while.”
Several netizens commented that the Government implemented such rules without taking into consideration its impact on delivery riders and other essential workers.
