Two female bus passengers were taken to the hospital after a road accident involving an SBS Transit bus, three cars, and a lorry along Compassvale Drive towards Rivervale Lane on Monday morning (25 Jan).

The police were alerted to the accident at 6.58am, as reported by The Straits Times.

Both the female bus passengers, aged seven and 37, were conscious when taken to the hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

A video, captured from a dashboard camera, uploaded on SG Road Vigilante Facebook page few hours after the incident shows the SBS Transit bus smashing into the rear of a car.

The crash caused a chain collision, affecting two other cars and a lorry.

Responding to TOC’s query, a spokesperson from SBS Transit stressed that the company’s foremost priority has been on the well-being of its commuters.

“A lady commuter and her child were injured and conveyed to hospital where they received outpatient treatment. We are in touch with the mother and are rendering assistance to them as best we can,” said Tammy Tan, Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications at SBS Transit.

“We apologise to affected commuters and motorists for the distress and inconvenience caused. Meanwhile, we are investigating the cause of the accident,” she added.
