Over 2,800 seniors categorised as vulnerable in the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC received food packs delivered by staff members and volunteers from the Silver Generation Office (SGO) over the course of 11 days since the early days of the COVID-19 circuit breaker.
Saktiandi Supaat, Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC Member of Parliament, in a Facebook post today (22 April) said that he has been “keeping track of the assistance rendered” to the vulnerable elderly as “only approved organisations are allowed to render help and walk around the estate”.
“During this Circuit Breaker period, I have been concerned about the welfare of our single and vulnerable elderly in Toa Payoh East-Novena.
“Silver Generation Office (SGO) staff and volunteers went on a last mile to deliver food packs to 2,845 vulnerable seniors in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC from 8 Apr to 19 Apr 2020 and to convey key COVID-19 messages especially reinforcing the message to stay at home,” he said.

Mr Saktiandi added that the SGO staff members and volunteers also carried out “quick check-ins” with the seniors during their deliveries and “offered further follow up on assistance if necessary”.
“We will continue to stay vigilant and render help to our vulnerable elderly residents,” Mr Saktiandi assured.
Formerly known as the Pioneer Generation Office, the SGO merged with the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) two years ago.
The SGO acts as an outreach body that shares government schemes such as the Pioneer and Merdeka Generation Packages, as well as active ageing activities and healthcare services under the Community Networks for Seniors with senior citizens in Singapore.
