With Singapore coming up to around 700 square kilometres in total area, land here is undoubtedly scarce, and so is parking space for cars. Scanning parking spots in town and the central business district (CBD) uncovers a number of the most expensive car parks around the country.

Hilton Hotel along Orchard Road charges motorists $7 per hour before 6 pm and $7 per entry after 6 pm.

Holiday Inn Express also on Orchard Road charges $3 per every half an hour.

Four Seasons Hotel close by on Orchard Boulevard charges $6 for the first hour and $3 per each subsequent half an hour when parking between 6 am to 5 pm. After 5 pm, rates are $6 per entry.

Shangri-la Hotel which is 10 minutes away from Orchard MRT has parking rates of $6 for the first hour and $2 per subsequent half an hour from 7 am to 5 pm. After 5 pm, it is $8 per entry.
- Regent Hotel also in the town area charges $5 for the first hour of parking and $2.50 for each subsequent half an hour from 7 am to 6 pm. After 6 pm, parking costs $6 per entry.
Besides Orchard, parking gets expensive at these places in the CBD as well.

Capital Tower at the Shenton Way financial district charges motorists $2.80 per half an hour on weekdays from 7 am to 6 pm as well as on Saturdays until 1 pm. At all other times, parking costs $3.20 per entry.

Income at Raffles at Collyer Quay has parking rates of $2.75 per half an hour on weekdays from 7.30 am to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 7.30 am to 1 pm. At all other times, parking is $3.30 per entry.

Similarly, Golden Shoe Complex charges $2.60 per half an hour from 7 am to 5 pm on weekdays and from 7 am to 1 pm on Saturdays, with parking at all other timings priced at $3.30 per entry.
- Clifford Centre at Raffles Place charges $5 per hour from 6 am to 5 pm and $3 per entry from 5 pm until the car park closes at 11 pm. It is worth noting that the car park is not open on Sundays.
Of course, the parking rates at the two Integrated Resorts cannot be left out.

Resorts World Sentosa’s parking rates are identical to Marina Bay Sands from Monday to Thursday from 7 am to 7 pm. After 7 pm, the cost per entry is slightly less at $6. On Fridays, weekends and public holidays, rates are $8 for the first hour and $2 for every subsequent half and hour from 7 am to 7 pm, and $8 per entry after 7 pm.
Although parking costs are definitely not the only indicator of a country’s cost of living, Singapore continues to be ranked as the world’s most expensive city to live in for the third year in a row according to the annual survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
