Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced the resignation of David Ong from his post as MP for Bukit Batok at 4pm today. He also revealed that Mr David Ong tendered his resignation from the People’s Action Party too.
A statement from the PMO also confirmed that a by election would be held in due course.

Mr David Ong served as MP for Jurong GRC from 2011 – 2015 and he was elected as MP for Bukit Batok SMC in 2015 with 72.99% of the votes, defeating SDP Candidate Sadasivam Veriyah and Independent Candidate Samir Salim Neji.
