Update: Six explosions were reported with five attackers and two other people confirmed dead from the incident.
Multiple explosions have been reported near Sarinah, a shopping mall in Central Jakarta on Thursday.


One police officer reportedly killed in the first blast.  More casualties have been reported but not yet confirmed.
According to Jeremy Douglas, a United Nations regional representative,  there was a serious exchange of gunfire after an explosion. Jeremy is located at the United Nations building on Jl Thamrin.

Jeremy also said that police are backing-up & issued security announcement for the public to stay away from windows and to retreat from lobby.
Jeff Huton, posted an image of the scene citing that the gunman are still in the shopping mall while the police are struggling to rescue the victims outside the mall.


Police have said they believe this is a bomb attack. There is no indication yet of who might be behind the assault. Police snipers have been reported to be positioning at nearby buildings.
