Watch the video ‘Sg Trainer torturing her dog’ here

A video of a trainer “torturing” her dog during training had been uploaded on Youtube only two days ago but already garnering over 17,000 views and 500 ‘shares’ on Facebook. According to the person who took the video (known as ‘Drey Drey Yeo’ on Facebook), she witnessed the act that afternoon on the two days ago during the PETAS 8th Dog Obedience Competition held in Singapore Expo.
The video showed a dog owner constantly using force to yank her dog by the collar to discipline and train it. Throughout the video, there were sudden exclamations of how “inhumane” the lady was towards the dog. The dog gave a high-pitched squeal whenever the trainer pulled the leash aggressively.
Inhumane Treatment of Dog?

Most of the comments on the video page were about how the trainer was way too violent and that there was no need for such treatment. Many others pitied the dog. Some called the lady in the video “pervertic” and “inhumane”, while some persuaded the person who uploaded the video to “report it to the authorities”.
More than Meets the Eye
However, some tried to blame the person who uploaded the video instead – stating that he/she should have confronted the lady instead of just taking the video.
User Chanelle Aretha commented that she “could have stopped the dog from being tortured” by confronting the lady. Several felt like it was an “overreaction” to the situation and that “torture and discipline are two different things”.
Confrontation with the Owner

With regards to whether or not the person who took the video did confront the lady or not, it seems like she did manage to confront the lady who was training her dog. The screenshot below is the confrontation taken from the video-taker’s Facebook page.

Additionally, she also posted that the dog was screaming because there were “two metal pointed things attached to the collar of the dog” so when the trainer pulls the leash, they will “poke into the dog’s throat, forcing the dog to follow the trainer’s commands, in a bid to win more awards”. Ms Yeo also added that she saw two other trainers using the same collar with the two protruding prongs.
She hopes to “spread more awareness” by letting people know that this aggressive act might just be “common” in dog obedience training schools.
Reported to SPCA

As stated by several comments from Facebook and Youtube, the video has been sent and the case has been reported to Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
