Brunei temporarily suspends reciprocal green lane arrangement with Singapore from Thursday till further notice
Brunei has announced on Wednesday (19 May) that it will be temporarily suspending its reciprocal green lane (RGL) arrangement with Singapore and will take effect from 7pm on Thursday (20 May) until further notice.
According to the press statement, this decision is made after the review of the risk assessment of the countries/areas/regions affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
From now, all travellers from Singapore will be required to undergo self-isolation in a hotel for a period determined by Brunei’s Health Ministry.
The RGL is meant to facilitate short-term essential business and official travel between Singapore and counterpart countries/regions.
Singapore has previously signed RGL agreements with China, Germany, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and Indonesia. With Brunei’s recent announcement, only China’s RGL arrangement remains.
As of Thursday noon (20 May), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 41 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore, bringing the total number of infection cases to 61,730.
There are 27 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, of whom 21 are linked to previous cases, and six are currently unlinked.
