A bus driver recently went the extra mile to help a passenger who boarded the bus without wearing a mask.

The incident was made known by Facebook user Alexander Tan who recounted what he witnessed in a post on 5 April.

According to Mr Tan, the passenger had apparently left his mask at home. He proceeded to alight from the bus to head back home after he came to the realization that he wasn’t wearing one.

Upon noticing this, the bus driver “sounded the horn to signal the passenger to return back onboard the bus before offering the passenger a mask from his own personal bag”.

The heartwarming scene is said to have taken place onboard bus SG1040R along Yishun Avenue 7 on 5 April at around 5:50pm. The bus was headed towards Sengkang.

In his post, Mr Tan expressed that the bus driver “deserves to be commended” for his kind deed.

“I hope that SMRT would recognise his efforts and kindness,” he wrote.

Mr Tan also shared a 23-second video showing the bus driver taking a mask out from his personal stash to give it to the passenger.
