As of Friday noon (18 Dec), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 9 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

This brings the total number of infection cases to 58,386.

Amongst the new cases today, 8 are asymptomatic and were detected from screening and surveillance, while 1 was symptomatic.

All of the new cases are imported cases, who had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

Amongst the 9 imported cases, 2 (Cases 58612 and 58613) are Singaporeans and 1 (Case 58608) is a Singapore Permanent Resident who returned from India and Austria. Another 3 (Cases 58609, 58614 and 58615) are Work Permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from Indonesia.

In addition, there is 1 Dependant’s Pass holder (Case 58607) who arrived from the UK, and a Short-Term Visit Pass holder (Case 58610) who arrived from India to visit her Singaporean family member.

The remaining case (Case 58611) is a Special Pass holder who arrived from India to board a ship docked here as a crew member.

There are no new cases linked to clusters today.

Update on condition of confirmed cases

13 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 58,265 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 36 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 56 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

29 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
