Thai Airways has come up with an eccentric idea to generate revenue while the aviation sector continues to be hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, it launched a programme that enables the public to experience being a flight attendant for a day.
Earlier on 14 September, the airline was granted by Thailand’s Central Bankruptcy Court to move ahead with plans to restructure 245 billion baht worth of debt.
As part of its restructuring effort, Thai Airways has launched the “Be Our Guest, Be Our Crew” programme with the Thai Flight Training Academy to invite the public to become a flight attendant for 2,900 baht.
The four-hour experience includes training for welcoming passengers on board, explaining safety procedures, serving food, and makeup alongside etiquette training.
What’s more, guests will be able to have their hair and makeup done and try on the iconic Thai Airways uniform for a photoshoot.
They can also show off their new skills in a cabin mockup Airbus A380 where they will be tested by serving, and then dine on in-flight dishes.
Besides that, the airline also offers three other programmes for those who want to learn more about the aviation industry. This programme includes a four-day pilot training simulator course, an emergency simulator training course, and the chance to spend a day in the kitchen with a Thai Airways chef.
