Reform Party’s Kenneth Jeyaretnam

Kenneth Jeyaretnam, Secretary-General of The Reform Party announces that the party will cede West Coast to Progress Singapore Party (PSP), therefore avoiding a three-corner fight with the People’s Action Party (PAP) in the upcoming election.

This was announced to the media through a press release on Wednesday (24 June).

As for where the party will be contesting, Mr Jeyaretnam wrote that his party will be fielding candidates in Ang Mo Kio GRC, Yio Chu Kang SMC, and Radin Mas SMC — all of which the party has previously contested at.

In regards to the party’s decision, Mr Jeyaretnam wrote, “We have selected the areas we will contest based on moving aside for Dr Tan [Cheng Bock]’s A team and secondly according to our probability of winning due to our familiarity with the ground and the familiarity of the residents with us.”

He added, “Dr Tan has national recognition, but we must go where we are known.”

Mr Jeyaretnam also hope that all supporters in Singapore will appreciate the party’s decision and come forward to help them in those 3 areas where it is contesting.
