哈佛医学院，根据据到医院就诊的卫星图像和搜索引擎数据进行研究，认为冠状病毒19（COVID-19）最早可能在去年8月，就已在中国传播。

该研究指，早在去年12月，有正式相关冠病疫情记录前，武汉民众前往医院就诊、相关症状网络搜索就已增加。

尽管无法证明上述迹象，与冠病传播有直接关联，惟也支持其他研究，表明在华南海鲜市场之前，病毒已出现。
