Laugh your head off at racial stereotypes that accompanied many through their childhood to their adulthood in Singapore without people giving you a stare in the face at Dream Academy’s brand new show, MEENAH AND CHEENAH!
With a script masterfully written by Alfian Sa’at, this 90-minutes comedy sketch peppered with R-rated and suggestive content is bound to send some grasping at their stitches from the jokes cracked by the two lovely comedians, Siti Khalijah (Meenah) and Judee Tan (Cheenah).

The two performers put up such a good show that one forgets that this show is only just the two of them and bare theatre stage. Heck, even when only one of them is on stage, they never failed to fill the stage with their brilliance and aura.
Though, I have to say that this is a show strongly recommended for those who have lived through the 90s in Singapore. Why? Because for those who haven’t, they probably “catch no ball” of certain references made by the sketch.
The two take on various roles that depict the stereotyped individual in our society and interact in somewhat familiar yet whacky manner. Like how young school girls talk about their crush in school, professions in society and etc. There is particularly a scene about the afterlife in Singapore that is bound to send you laughing non-stop.
Asking in an earlier interview of how would Singaporeans watching will relate to the plights that your characters face in the show, the two said,
Siti: The characters are very Singaporean, and the issues that will be brought up are totally relatable for people of all ages. The show is also written in such a way that it’s very straightforward, punchy and super spicy.
Judee: All situations portrayed are every audience’s “dream”. Every scenario will be instantly recognisable – they will either make you laugh till you get a pat tor tia or be a painful reminder of some of the worst encounters you’ve had to experience as a Meenah or Cheenah in Singapore.
There is so much to talk about the humor of the sketch but yet so little if one is not to spoil the fun for would-be viewers.  However, interested readers can taste a sample of Siti Khalijah and Judee Tan’s performance in the video below but note that it is not what will be performed in the show. This is just probably 20% of the comedy level you can expect from the actual performance.
