The Hari Raya Puasa holiday is coming up on 6 July 2016. You can expect the traffic flow through the land checkpoint of Woodland and Tuas to be heavy for those who are visiting Johor for a short holiday get-away. The traffic is expected to be particularly heavy on Tuesday (5 July 2016) and Wednesday (6 July 2016).
The Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) has advised travellers to adjust their travel plans if possible to avoid traffic as it will inevitable build up due to the surge of travellers and vehicles seeking clearance at the land checkpoints with security checks.
If you are planning to go through the Immigration Checkpoint by land, there are few things you need to do to make it more comfortable for everyone.
- You are encouraged to travel in group to avoid massive numbers of car queuing at the gate.
- Drivers must remember to stay on lane and wait for your turn patiently.
- Eligible users (Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents and Long Term Pass holders) are encouraged to use the enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System (eIACS) at the bus halls for immigration clearance.
- Travellers are remember not to bring unlawful or prohibited goods into and out of Singapore.
- You are reminded to check and ensure that you are using your own valid passport before setting off on your journey. Remember to check the remaining validity of your passport. It has to be six months or more.
For those who are riding on a motorcycle on these days, you are strongly advised to check on the traffic situation before embarking on your journey.
The LTA’s Expressway Monitoring and Advisory System (EMAS) installed along the AYE and BKE can be monitored in advance when you are about to leave Singapore by Woodlands or Tuas and are curious about the traffic situation. Other than the EMAS, you can choose to call the traffic information hotline at 6863-0117 or tune in to radio for the latest traffic condition.
ICA said that they will continue to take necessary measures to improve clearance efficiency as much as possible without compromising security and seeks travellers’ understanding and cooperation during the peak periods.
