Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat will be delivering his Singapore Budget 2021 statement in Parliament on 16 February.

The Budget Statement will be broadcast live via television and radio. A live webcast of the delivery of the Budget Statement will be available on the Singapore Budget website.

Members of the public can also follow the Ministry of Finance (MOF)’s Facebook and Twitter pages for real-time updates of key Budget announcements.

Singaporeans are also invited to share views and suggestions for the upcoming Budget by 8 January via multiple channels.

Such channels are as follows:

  • The Singapore Budget website;
  • REACH’s Budget microsite;
  • REACH Singapore’s Facebook;
  • REACH Singapore Instagram;
  • The Budget 2021 Form; or
  • People’s Association’s “Ask Kopi Kakis” #shareyourviews webpage.

“Details of the virtual Ask Kopi Kakis #ShareYourViews engagement platforms can be found at go.gov.sg/shareyourviews,” said MOF.

Mr Heng in a Facebook post on Thursday (31 December) said that while it is almost a “tradition” to announce the date of the annual Budget around the turn of the year since several years ago, “this year has been far from traditional”.

“Instead of an annual Budget, we had four Budgets and two Ministerial Statements. To support our workers, companies and households through COVID-19, we introduced several rounds of support measures.

“Preparation for Budget 2021 is well underway. The pandemic is contained locally and vaccination is ongoing. But the overall outlook remains highly uncertain and will be the case for some time to come,” he said.

Should Singapore’s trajectory of economic recovery be on track, Mr Heng said that “we will have a more “traditional” Budget year”.

“But if the situation takes a turn for the worse, we are ready to respond and adapt,” he added.
