Singapore People’s Party (SPP) member Khan Osman Sulaiman, who will be contesting in Bishan-Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency (GRC) is calling for volunteers to join his team in preparation of the next General Election (GE).

In his Facebook post on Saturday (20 June), Mr Osman, who is a businessman and former Reform Party candidate in the General Election 2015, announced that he will be contesting as candidate of SPP in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC.

Mr Osman is among the five candidates that unveiled by the Party to contest in the upcoming GE. The other three candidates running with Mr Osman at in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, are the Party secretary-general, Steve Chia, vice-chairman Williiamson Lee and member Melvyn Chiu.

“Although I may not have covered much ground at BTP (Bishan-Toa Payoh), rest assured that I’m working on it,” he said as he had previously contested in Ang Mo Kio GRC in 2011 and 2015 GE.

As such, Mr Osman who recently joined the party, said that he and his team have just “covered almost forty blocks of flats” within their two-days outreach activity.

“I will have to rely on my other team members who has walked the ground before me to understand some of the municipal issues faced by residents. I will get up to speed and cover as much ground space as possible until campaigning period,” he added.

Noting that “resources in hand” is one of the challenges to run for a political campaign, Mr Osman thus called for volunteers to join his team.

“Manpower is tight and we aren’t blessed with huge machinery like the PAP. But hey, we thrive on passion. One passionate person is worth 100 people’s effort,” he added.

He welcomed individuals who are interested to experience how an election is conducted and see what goes behind running for a campaign to sign up as his party’s volunteers.
