A train service disruption occurred on Thursday early evening along the Circle Line (CCL) due to a train fault; According to commuters, this also seemed to have affected the train service along the North South Line (NSL).
Passengers started to post information about the CCL train delay on TATA SMRT Facebook platform at 5:25pm:
Simon Foo wrote at 5:25pm: “9 May 5.24pm happening now. Expect some delay on CCL towards Dhoby Ghaut.”
Delon Chew responded to Simon Foo at 5:51pm: “Train fault, but didn’t state where. Just announced expect 15 mins delay in both directions.”
Julia Chan wrote at 6:10pm: “Train fault at raffles place, NS line is a bit stuck.”
Jermyn Wee also posted information at 6:42pm, he wrote: “Circle line seem to have a delay. Just before bishan in the direction of dhouby ghout. Train slowed down to a crawl.”
At 5:55pm SMRT tweeted the train delay was caused by a train fault – and as mentioned by Delon Chew – didn’t state where, asking for additional 15 minutes of travel time between Stadium and Dhoby Ghaut:

And not long after SMRT informed that the fault had been cleared, the train service was resuming and the free regular bus services have ended at 6:23pm:

The posts on TATA SMRT Facebook from commuters informed that the train disruption ended about half an hour later:
Julia Chan wrote at 6:36: “Managed to get off train already, it moved after a few mins, prob 5 min delay? But during rush hour means the queue to get in the train will be longer.”
And at 6:45pm Jermyn Wee informed: “Train seems to me moving at normal speed now.”
At 6:50pm Karen Law Krygsman answered to Julia Chan: “Just got to Raffles Place MRT. Station is clear with trains arriving every 1-2 mins.”
And at 7:13pm Karen Law Krygsman added: “Train journey smooth from Raffles Place with no delays or long stops until between AMK and YCK stns when it came to a complete stop twice!!”
On the Twitter platform passengers also posted their information, questions and complains:
On board #CCL now, the train just moved back towards Paya Lebar without any warning. Supposed to reach Stadium but just returned back towards Paya Lebar without any anouncement, why?

So very angry and frustrated at @SMRT_Singapore rn for not giving constant and updated announcements. Was stuck on the train underground with no service for 30mins. And now I have to cancel my appointment.

Even more frustrating is when I brought the lack of announcements up to the ticket office when we got out at the next station (after the train went the opposite direction without any warning) and he said it's not his fault. Wtf. Get better customer support @SMRT_Singapore
