W!LD RICE’s traditional year-end pantomime has become the much sought after training platform for young talents. This year, the theater company is staging Monkey Goes West, a cheeky and affectionate re-telling of the beloved Chinese classic, set within today’s Singapore. Directed by Sebastian Tan, a popular actor and written by W!LD RICE’s Resident Playwright Alfian Sa’at.
Through the years, W!LD RICE’s FIRST STAGE! has trained more than 250 children through their first experiences of performing on the professional stage alongside established actors and entertainers. WILD RICE’s programme aims to provide a holistic experience for the children. In additional to vocal, dance and movement classes to get the young talents ready for performance, the program tries to impart values such as teamwork, confidence, generosity, discipline and trust through their experience of theatre.
The theater company is looking for 30 children from the age of 5 – 12 years old. They have to be available for
Workshop: 3 days in the week of 8th September 2014
Rehearsal:
10th October (7pm – 10pm), 11th October (1pm – 10pm), 17th October (7pm – 10pm), 18th October (1pm – 10pm)
31st October (7pm – 10pm), 1st November (1pm – 10pm), 25th October (1pm – 10pm), 3rd November 2014 onwards excluding Sundays (1pm – 10pm)
CD Recording:
22nd – 23rd October 2014 (3pm – 9pm)
Bump-In:
19th – 21st November 2014 (11am – 11pm)
Show:
21st – 30th November 2014 (Cast A)
2nd – 13th December 2014 (Cast B*)
*Prior to 2nd November, Cast B will be needed on 30 Nov – 2 Dec to watch the show and have refresher rehearsals to revise the choreography and scene blockings.
If the children can commit to all of the above dates/times, they may apply to audition on:
27th June 2014, Friday (2pm – 7pm) or
29th June 2014, Sunday (11am to 5pm)
