The Progress Singapore Party (PSP) has elected 12 cadres to its Central Executive Committee (CEC) in its 2nd Party Conference on Sunday (28 March).

The Party Conference was held at its headquarters in Bukit Timah Shopping Centre and its Tannery branch connected over Zoom conferencing at the two locations.

PSP’s 1st party conference was the 1st CEC meeting of the founding members held on 13 April 2019.

PSP cadres deliberated on the proceedings for two hours this morning and elected the following 12 cadres from 26 nominations:

  • Francis Yuen Kin Pheng
  • Hazel Poa Koon Koon
  • Leong Mun Wai
  • Peggie Chua
  • Kayla Low
  • Wendy Low WL
  • Jess Chua
  • Phang Yew Huat
  • Harish Pillay

Both Nominated Members of Parliament, Mr Leong Mun Wai and Ms Hazel Poa were elected back as members of CEC after they stepped down from their leadership positions last year due to their parliamentary appointment.

Out of the 12 CEC members, six members are newly elected and four had contested in the recent GE2020.

Ms Kayla Low contested in Yio Chu Kang SMC, garnering 39.17 per cent of the vote against PAP’s Yip Hon Weng.

Dr Ang Yong Guan contested in Marymount SMC, garnering 44.96 per cent of the vote against PAP’s Gan Siow Huang.

Wendy Low  and Harish Pillay, both part of the PSP team who contested in Tanjong Pagar GRC, garnering 36.87 per cent of the vote against the PAP team. Ms Low is also the chair of PSP’s Women’s Wing.

Two other new members are Ms Jess Chua and Mr Phang Yew Huat.

The new CEC will serve for two years till March 2023. Six members of the previous CEC have been reelected and the new CEC has six new members to provide the party with a renewed leadership at the highest decision making body.

The new CEC will meet next week to appoint office holders and the party will announce new appointments on Thursday.

“This is a significant milestone in PSP and the new CEC will chart the way for the party and our future,” said Dr. Tan Cheng Bock.
