Singapore-based Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Esports team defeated Brazilian team INTZ to claim the 2020 Brawl Stars World Championship earlier on Sunday (22 Nov).

Eight teams from around the world competed in the virtual tournament last weekend. The tournament was initially scheduled to take place in Katowice, Poland but was forced to be carried out online due to the global pandemic.

PSG Esports bested seven other teams in the tournament, defeating China’s Nova China in the quarterfinals, before kicking Germany’s SK Gaming out of the competition in the semi-finals.

The Singapore-based team then secured the title of world champions after its victory over Brazil’s INTZ in a thrilling best-of-five series set in different Brawl Stars game modes.

PSG Esports brutally owned INTZ, winning three straight sets in what seemed to be a one-sided final stage encounter.

The winning team consisted of captain Nicholas “CoupDeAce” Ng, Kogure “Relyh” Yo, Response, and substitute player Charleston “Scythe” Yeo.

As champions of the world tournament, PSG Esports bagged the prize money of US$200,000 out of a prize pool of US$1 million.

INTZ took home US$150,000, and US$125,000 went to SK Gaming (3rd place) and American team Tribe Red (4th place). Meanwhile, the teams that came in fifth to eight place earned US$100,000 each.

Following PSG Esports’ well-deserved triumph, Singaporean Nicholas “CoupDeAce” Ng took to Twitter saying that winning the Brawl Stars World Finals 2020 was the highlight of his year.

He even shared a photo of his exclusive Brawl Stars World Finals pin in his tweet.

In a separate tweet on the same day, Nicholas “CoupDeAce” Ng thanked his “amazing teammates” for the journey they had together throughout the year.

He also penned his appreciation to all PSG Esports’ fans for “being so supportive”.
