Two-time gold medalist in the Southeast Asian Games marathon event Soh Rui Yong is attempting to add another milestone to his track and field career when he tries to break the 5,000m national record at the Flash Athletics Club annual Flash Relays to be held on Saturday, 7 October at the Bishan Stadium.

The record is currently being held by Mok Ying Ren, who clocked 14:51.09s at the Tokyo University Time trials on 28 May 2011.

Said Soh: “Indonesian distance runner Agus Prayogo was due to race in the same event but unfortunately he is unable to make it. His presence would have helped me a lot and he would have pushed me hard to the record but in any case, it is a target I have set for myself and hope I am able to do it.”
