On 9 May 2025, Harpreet Singh Nehal, the Workers’ Party (WP) candidate for Punggol GRC, assured residents that the WP team would remain active in the constituency despite its defeat in the 3 May General Election.

In a Facebook post, senior counsel Harpreet addressed residents and supporters, thanking them for their encouragement and pledging ongoing engagement.

He assured residents that the Punggol WP team would continue its groundwork and outreach initiatives in the weeks and months ahead.

Harpreet emphasised that meaningful change requires long-term commitment, not just nine days of campaigning.

“The Workers’ Party team in Punggol is just getting started,” he stated confidently.

“We may not have won the seat this time, but your response — in Punggol and throughout Singapore — has been overwhelming,” he added.

He thanked volunteers and residents for their support and called for more volunteers to join the WP’s efforts, directing residents to sign up via the party’s website.

‘The Workers’ Party way’: Commitment beyond elections

Addressing recent public comments about his political future, Harpreet, 59, responded with humour and determination.

“I’m in good health, good shape, and I plan to be here for a long, long time!” he declared, highlighting his stamina during the campaign.

He underscored that the WP’s mission is rooted in service to the country, extending beyond the electoral cycle.

While Harpreet plans a short break with family, he assured residents that communication would resume soon, inviting more to join the movement.

Harpreet concluded his message with optimism: “Let’s walk this road together — with hope, with humour, and with heart.”

He expressed confidence that the WP’s efforts in Punggol will strengthen over time, supported by residents’ participation and volunteerism.
