SINGAPORE: A barge named Marco Polo 802 ran aground near Tanjong Beach, Sentosa, on the morning of 6 June 2025.

Eco-tour agency Kayakasia reported the incident around 7.30am, stating that the barge blocked the lagoon and damaged floating sea barriers.

The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore confirmed the grounding in a Facebook statement.

The barge remains stable and is carrying containers. There are no reports of injuries, damages to vessels, or marine pollution.

Tug boats have been activated by the MPA and are on their way to tow the vessel back to sea.

The beach remains accessible to the public, with no impact to navigational safety in surrounding waters, said MPA.

MPA and Sentosa Development Corporation are coordinating with other agencies to limit disruptions.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
