Lady Gaga last performed in Singapore in 2012 as part of her Born This Way Ball Tour, during which she held three concerts at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Prior to that, she had performed in the country in 2009 and 2011, including exclusive showcase performances. The upcoming concerts coincide with the release of her seventh studio album, Mayhem, which debuted on 7 March 2025. The 14-track album marks a return to her dark-pop roots, a style that defined her early career. She has already released three singles from the album—Disease, Abracadabra, and Die With A Smile. In an Instagram post, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong shared that the Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM) team had worked directly with Live Nation to bring Lady Gaga to Singapore. He stated, “The Mother Monster has confirmed her show for multiple nights at the National Stadium—her only stop in Asia!” He added that since the government took back control of the Singapore Sports Hub, there has been a concerted effort to secure major international entertainment and sporting events. This is in line with the Kallang Alive Masterplan, which aims to develop the area into a leading sports, entertainment, and lifestyle hub.

Lady Gaga’s announcement comes after a year of major concerts at the National Stadium, featuring artists such as Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Bruno Mars. Swift’s six-night concert residency in March 2024 sparked controversy after former Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin claimed that Singapore had offered a subsidy of up to US$3 million per show to secure exclusive regional rights. Minister Tong later clarified that Singapore had instead provided a total of US$2-3 million (S$2.69-4.04 million) in subsidies across all six concerts in exchange for exclusivity in Southeast Asia. With her four-night run at the National Stadium, Lady Gaga’s concerts are expected to draw fans from across the region, reinforcing Singapore’s reputation as a premier entertainment hub.
