Singapore’s alternative political party Progress Singapore Party (PSP) has called for a more equal society so there’ll be plenty of opportunities for citizens, as well as decent livelihoods available for all in its National Day message.
“Let’s strive to build a more equal society where opportunities abound for our citizens, where decent livelihoods are available to everyone, where we progress with grace and compassion and in harmony with the environment, and where prosperity transcends material comfort to include prosperity of ideas and communities that care and share,” PSP’s Secretary General Francis Yuen said in a Facebook post on Sunday (8 August).
He added, “Every home must be a place of warmth and love. Happiness for all must be the polestar guiding decisions that impact lives and livelihood.”
In its National Day message, the party that has two nominated members of parliament (NCMP) expressed that in this “challenging and difficult time” for both Singapore and the world, it’s time for the people to re-dedicate themselves to stand united as one people, to be confident of overcoming all odds as well as to “keep the interests of our country and our people close to our hearts”.
“While we can do without celebrating this special day with pomp and splendour, we cannot do without the strong spirit of nation building which we have always had.
“We have come this far. The road ahead maybe onerous. But with steely resolve and iron determination, nothing can deter us from building a better Singapore,” the party noted.
It went to hope that this National Day may bring upon better times, peace and progress for Singapore and the world.
“The lion must continue to roar. Our talents must continue to soar. Stay healthy and stay safe Singapore!” the party concluded.
