SDP’s Bryan Lim appeals for donations for Woodlands resident on five-month hospitalisation leave due to surgery
Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) member Bryan Lim Boon Heng took to Facebook on Monday (2 Nov) to share the plight of a Woodlands resident who had just undergone surgery for a clavicle fracture and is on hospitalisation leave until mid-March next year.
Mr Lim noted in his post that the resident, only identified as Abdullah, works as a GrabFood driver to support his family.
According to him, the father of two turned to him for help yesterday as he will not be able to earn an income for the next five months due to his hospitalisation leave.
“What I am most concerned are his 2-year old daughter & 3-year old son who need diapers & milk powder. They should not go hungry or suffer because of their father’s unfortunate plight,” said Mr Lim.
Following that, the SDP’s member appealed to fellow Singaporeans to lend help to Mr Abdullah’s family by donating some items.
These items include L-sized diapers for the daughter, XL-sized diapers for the son, formula milk for children age 24 months and above, as well as grocery vouchers.
Those who wish to make donations can contact SDP’s Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC team via Facebook Messenger or call 8313 9685.
The final collection date will be on 12 November.
Mr Lim also noted that the SDP team will make arrangements to collect the items from donors and deliver them to Mr Abdullah after 12 November.
“Let’s revive the kampung spirit & gotong-royong to help those in need,” he asserted.
“Like a broken record, I will like to reiterate the same words: The beacon of humanity shines the brightest when we care for one another,” Mr Lim added.
