Progress Singapore Party’s official launch to be held on 3 August at Swissotel Merchant Hotel

Dr Tan Cheng Bock’s Progress Singapore Party (PSP) is all set to have its official launch on 3 August at Swissotel Merchant Hotel.
PSP is a new political party set up by former presidential candidate and former People’s Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Tan Cheng Bock and it received formal approval from the Registry of Societies on 28 March 2019. Dr Tan had made the application to form PSP earlier this year on 16 Jan alongside “twelve likeminded Singaporeans” including “some ex-PAP cadres”. The symbol of the party which was unveiled in April is a red palm tree.
In an earlier Facebook post on 27 May, Dr Tan said that the official launch of the party was scheduled for 16 June 2019 at EXPO Hall 5, pending police approval.
Unfortunately, the Police Permit and other related permits such as the Public Entertainment License were pending, forcing Dr Tan to postpone the launch, just two weeks before the event.
Thankfully, based on an event update at Eventbrite, it seems that the official launch is finally happening early next month.
During the launch, Singaporeans will be introduced to the Party and the people behind it, including former presidential candidate and founder of PSP, Dr Tan Cheng Bock.
According to the Party’s write-up of the event, Dr Tan will be sharing his thoughts on how the Party can contribute towards a better Singapore for the future generations. Besides Dr Tan, other members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) will also be speaking at the official launch.
The event will be conducted in two sessions (morning and afternoon) and those interested are encouraged to register at Eventbrite to secure an entry ticket (which is free) since the capacity of the Ballroom is limited.
Please note that the programmes for both the morning and afternoon session are similar, so interested attendees will only need to register once for their preferred timing.
Event details:
Date: 3rd August 2019
Location: Hotel Swissôtel Merchant Court Ballroom
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM
For those who want to attend the official launch, please register here for the morning or afternoon session.
