The premises at 23 Tuas View Circuit was engulfed in massive flames on Thursday (23 February) morning, resulting in thick columns of smoke billowing to the skies, alarming members of public around the area.
According to the map, the company that located at the address is Eco Special Waste Management.
In a Facebook post at 7.18am, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) stated that it has been alerted to a fire and that firefighters are already at scene fighting the fire with water jets.
Another hour from its first post, SCDF said that upon its arrival, the premises measuring about 200m by 200m was fully engulfed in flames.
“SCDF is currently at work with 3 water monitors and 2 Unmanned Firefighting Machines,” it said.
SCDF then alerted the public to stay away from the area.
Around two hours after its first post, SCDF said that it has deployed 9 fire engines, 5 Red Rhinos, 4 Unmanned Firefighting Machines, 1 ambulance, 15 support vehicle, adding that there were about 200 SCDF responders to the incident.
“Firefighting operation is still ongoing,” it said.
SCDF said that the fire involves chemical waste and flammable materials. Periodic explosions could be heard as firefighters battle the blaze to contain it within the affected premises.
It said that its officers was also applying foam to suppress the fire in the drains within the immediate vicinity.
It added that there were no casualties conveyed to the hospital.
