SCDF alerts public on spoof calls beginning with ‘995’

Singapore Police Defence Force (SCDF) has clarified on its Facebook page on Monday (29 August) that calls beginning with the number +65-995X XXXX were not made by SCDF.

SCDF stated it has been alerted by members of public that they have received calls beginning with the number +65-995X XXXX on their mobile phones.

It alerted members of public to not provide personal data such as name, NRIC number, passport details, bank account or credit card details.

“You are advised to IGNORE such calls,” it wrote.

It also wrote, “For those who missed such calls, DO NOT return the calls as it will lead you to the SCDF ‘995’ Emergency Hotline. The SCDF ‘995’ hotline is for emergencies only.”

Members of public who receive such calls are advised to call the Police Hotline at 1800-255 0000 or submit information online at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness.
