A 66-year-old woman was killed after a GetGo car, allegedly driven by an unauthorised user, crashed into a night market stall at Circuit Road. The 40-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

SINGAPORE: A 66-year-old woman was killed after a GetGo car crashed into a pasar malam (night market) stall along Circuit Road late on Friday night (11 July).
The fatal accident reportedly occurred at around 11.45pm, in front of Block 52A Circuit Road.
According to a photo posted by SG Road Vigilante on Facebook, the black car bearing GetGo livery appeared to have rammed through the stall and collided with a nearby flight of stairs.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedic.
A 40-year-old man who was behind the wheel was arrested for dangerous driving causing death, as well as driving without a licence and insurance.
Police investigations are ongoing.
The stall, which sold Chinese snacks such as tutu kueh, was reportedly manned by an older man and three women.
It is believed the deceased had been washing up at the stall when the car crashed into it.
Photos from the aftermath showed a chaotic scene, with broken tables, scattered food items, boxes, utensils, and packaging strewn across the ground.
The car was seen covered in sauce, some of which had splattered onto the ceiling of the tent.
A 35-year-old man known as Zam, who operated a nearby beverage stall, told Shin Min Daily News that the snack stall’s crew often chatted with him and had become like family.
While most vendors closed by around 10pm, the snack stall typically operated later.
Zam recalled the women smiling and waving goodbye to him shortly before the incident.
Another resident, Huang, 48, said he returned home from work at about 6am the next morning to find the area cordoned off by police.
He spotted several police vehicles, including a hearse, which indicated that someone had died.
The pasar malam, comprising five stalls, began operations on 5 July and is scheduled to continue until 20 July.
In response to media queries, GetGo offered its condolences to the victim’s family and said it was fully cooperating with the authorities.
The company stated that preliminary information showed the car had been driven by an unauthorised user — a “severe breach” of its terms of service.
GetGo added that it is also providing assistance to those affected by the incident but declined to comment further due to ongoing investigations.
