SINGAPORE: Train services on the entire Bukit Panjang Light Rail Transit (LRT) system were disrupted on the morning of 3 July 2025 due to a power fault, according to rail operator SMRT. The disruption began around 8.50am, SMRT said in a Facebook post at 9.18am. In response, free regular and bridging bus services were activated to assist affected commuters. In-train and station announcements were made, and on-site staff were reportedly deployed to assist, SMRT added. The operator apologised for the inconvenience and thanked commuters for their patience.

However, some commuters voiced dissatisfaction online. One commuter commented on SMRT’s Facebook page that at around 9.16am, he saw no staff or signage indicating the availability of free bus services. He described encountering only “a stranger with his breakfast” informing others of the breakdown, adding that he eventually walked over 20 minutes to Bukit Panjang MRT due to long wait times for ride-hailing services. In response, SMRT acknowledged the complaint, stating: “We are sorry to hear about your experience." "Free regular bus and bridging bus services are available at designated bus stops outside the station.” The operator also provided a link for station-specific travel alternatives. The Bukit Panjang LRT line spans approximately 8km, connecting residents in Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang to the North-South and Downtown MRT lines. This marks the second major disruption to Singapore's train network this week. On 1 July 2025, a signalling fault on the Thomson-East Coast Line led to an additional 30 minutes of travel time for morning commuters.
