GE2025: WP’s Dennis Tan retains Hougang SMC with 62.17% of the vote
Hougang SMC was called on 3 May 2025 for WP’s Dennis Tan, who retained the seat with 62.2% of the vote, defeating PAP’s Marshall Lim (37.83%). Of 27,185 valid votes, WP secured 16,900 and PAP 10,285. Hougang SMC, with 29,464 electors, has been held by WP since 1991 and saw a 61.2% vote share in 2020.
On 3 May 2025, Hougang SMC was officially called for the Workers' Party’s Dennis Tan, who won 62.17% of the vote.
He defeated the People’s Action Party’s Marshall Lim, who secured 37.83%
Of 27,185 valid votes, 16,900 went to WP and 10,285 to PAP.
Hougang SMC, with 29,464 electors, has long been a WP stronghold. In 2020, Tan won the seat with 61.2% of the vote against PAP.
