Red Dot United unveils Com-Unity Cat mascot during Christmas walkabout in Jurong GRC
Members of The Coalition, including Red Dot United (RDU), celebrated Christmas in Jurong GRC by unveiling Tia, the Com-Unity Cat. The festive walkabout featured gifts, lucky draws, and community engagement, highlighting RDU’s commitment to unity, balance, and harmony.
In the spirit of Christmas, members of The Coalition—comprising the National Solidarity Party (NSP), Singapore People’s Party (SPP), Singapore United Party (SUP), and Red Dot United (RDU)—came together in Jurong GRC to spread festive joy, highlighted by the unveiling of RDU’s new mascot, Tia, the Com-Unity Cat.
The Christmas walkabout began with the introduction of Tia at Taman Jurong Shopping Centre and Taman Jurong Hawker Centre. Members of RDU, volunteers, and their Coalition partners engaged with shoppers and shopkeepers, creating a lively festive atmosphere.
The event continued at Blk 118 Corporation Drive, a block of public rental flats, where Coalition members distributed hampers, mobile phones, movie tickets, and tea bags through lucky draws, bringing smiles to the residents.
Tia, the Com-Unity Cat: A Symbol of RDU’s Values
Tia, the Com-Unity Cat, was unveiled as Red Dot United’s (RDU) official mascot, symbolizing the party’s core principles and mission. Inspired by the endangered leopard cat, a resilient species native to Singapore, Tia represents adaptability, perseverance, and balance—qualities that resonate with RDU’s vision for Singapore’s political landscape.
According to RDU, the name “Com-Unity” is a creative wordplay combining “community” and “unity,” reflecting the party’s commitment to fostering fairness and inclusivity. Much like the leopard cat’s ecological role in maintaining balance within its environment, Tia symbolizes RDU’s dedication to strengthening Singapore’s political system through checks and balances.
“Tia reflects the story of Singapore—a small nation thriving through adaptability, perseverance, and balance,” said Ravi Philemon, Secretary-General of RDU. “Tia also mirrors RDU’s story as a party formed against all odds, punching above our weight to be a responsible, respectable, and reasonable Opposition.”
Community Engagement and Conservation Efforts
The Christmas walkabout offered The Coalition an opportunity to connect with Jurong residents and give back to the community. As part of the festivities, RDU raised funds by releasing 100 limited-edition button badges featuring Tia, sold at S$5 each. The initial batch sold out quickly to party members, with part of the proceeds donated to the Singapore Wildcat Action Group (SWAG) to support conservation efforts for the critically endangered leopard cat population in Singapore.
“These badges are adorable keepsakes that can be proudly displayed or gifted to friends and family,” said Dr David Foo, Chairman of RDU. “It’s also for a worthy cause—to create balance in both politics and the environment, so that harmony can prevail. We encourage Singaporeans to support RDU and the wildcats in Singapore by purchasing these badges.”
Members of the public who wish to purchase Tia – Our Com-Unity Cat button badges can WhatsApp 88064365 or email [email protected]. The button badges can be picked up from the Party Office at selected times or mailed out (postage charged separately).
The event highlighted RDU’s dual focus on community support and environmental conservation, presenting a holistic approach to engaging with the public and advancing its mission.
