SINGAPORE: About 50 residents were evacuated from Block 889A Tampines Street 81 after a fire broke out in a 13th-floor unit on the morning of 9 December. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the emergency at approximately 6.40am. In a Facebook post on 9 December, SCDF reported that thick black smoke was seen billowing from the affected unit when officers arrived at the scene. Paramedics on-site assessed the pair for smoke inhalation, but they declined to be taken to the hospital. As a precaution, about 50 residents from nearby units were evacuated by SCDF and police officers. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
