HUNAN, CHINA: Several students were injured in a vehicle collision outside Yongan Primary School in Dingcheng District, Changde, Hunan, on the morning of 19 November 2024, according to reports from China’s state media, XinHua Net.

The incident occurred when a vehicle collided with pedestrians in front of the school, leaving many students injured.

At this stage, the specific number of casualties is still being confirmed. Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, the state media reported.

Disturbing footage shared on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) shows students running from the scene, with some quickly returning to the school compound.

The white vehicle involved in the collision was seen stalled on the road.

In another video, a group of men were filmed physically assaulting an individual near the vehicle, with one wielding a long rod.

A police officer was also captured handcuffing a man on the ground in another clip.

This tragic event comes just days after a deadly attack in southern China, where a driver rammed his car into a crowd at a sports centre, killing 35 people and severely injuring 43 others.

Separately, a knife attack at the Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Jiangsu province, eastern China, left eight people dead and 17 injured on the evening of 16 November 2024.

This recent spate of violence has raised concerns about public safety.

Authorities are investigating the incident and have yet to release further details about the driver and the motive behind the attack.
