KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – A coffee shop owner protected one of her employees from two males armed with parangs in a suspected revenge attack.

According to the CCTV footage, which was posted on Facebook, this incident occurred on 17 January at around 9.23 am in a coffee shop located at Taman Segar Perdana, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

Two males holding parangs stormed into the coffee shop, first approaching the drink stall before proceeding to attack one of the staff.

The duo chased the employee around the coffee shop, slashing at him while the employee who was being attacked, defended himself using a plastic chair.

Patrons of the coffee shop can be seen fleeing the scene as the attack took place.

Mohd Zaid Hassan, Kajang district police chief, said they received an emergency call from a woman regarding the incident at around 9.25 am that day.

The woman told the police that two males armed with parang assaulted a 46-year-old man at the coffee shop.

“Investigation found that the incident happened because the suspect was not satisfied with the victim, who was an employee at the shop. The employee reprimanded the suspect for making noise when the drinks he ordered were delivered late.”

“The suspect was chased out from the shop later, but returned again with a parang and attacked the victim with another suspect.”

“The victim suffered a broken bone in his left index finger and a wound in his right knee, “Zaid Hassan added.

Police arrested two men aged between 44 and 47 at Taman Cheras Permata around 3 am yesterday(18 January).

Suspects are currently remanded for five days for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.
