HOKKAIDO – A 41-year-old Singaporean woman and her four-month-old daughter on holiday trip in Japan’s Hokkaido, were killed in an car accident on yesterday (10 January) after their rental car collided with a truck.

According to Japan local media TBS News Dig, on 10 January 11.30am, a passenger car carrying family of four collided with a large lorry at the intersection of the road in the ski town, Kamifurano.

Local police said two people in the car were killed in the accident: the mother 41-year-old Lin Shuwei, and her second daughter, four-month-old Ahana Kartik.

The father, 44-year-old Indian engineer who was driving this car was seriously injured, breaking a bone in his lower back.

His 3-year-old eldest daughter was also injured in the head. Both of them ere taken to the hospital.

It was believed that the family of four was on vacation and they rented the passenger car for sightseeing in Hokkaido.

The truck driver was reportedly not injured.

Local police are investigating the cause of the accident. There was no traffic light at the intersection where the accident happened.

The road surface was covered with snow when the tragedy took place. There is a stop sign on the road where the car was driving along.
