SINGAPORE — A TikTok user, Tan.ab expressed his disappointment at how parcels were handled by delivery personnel from Shopee Xpress were tossing parcels from the back of a van to the floor of a void deck at an HDB flat along Haig Road.
Tan.ab posted a video of his commentary and video of the incident on Saturday (24 Dec), captioning, “Now I know why sometimes my parcel is damage lor.. 😡”
The video, which is credited to “James”, shows a couple of individuals unloading parcels from a van with the logo of Shopee Xpress, with some parcels being thrown onto the floor by the individuals while some were caught by another individual situated at the void deck.
Commenters on the TikTok video shared their astonishment over what Tan.ab has shared.
One wrote, “Now I know why my box is like smash on one corner when it arrived 😡”
Another wrote, “No wonder I shipped my homebaked cookies with Shopee Xpress and buyers received powder” while TC wrote, ‘No wonder….my wife keep receiving damaged goods. Very irresponsible delivery guys!!!!!”
Elysia.t3 shared, “yeah saw it near my block void deck. They throw when they sort out too. Didn’t have the chance to video it.”
Tan.ab said in his commentary: “As much as we are unhappy, I think we should support the Shopee sellers and remind Shopee again to engage the right contractors, instead of penalising the sellers on Shopee.”
However, as one commenter pointed out in the comments, Shopee has its own delivery fleet.
Shopee Xpress is an integrated logistics service provided by Shopee to provide the last-mile delivery of its items to buyers.
Fatha suggested advising them to have the parcels put in a box and transferred to the floor. Shopee should have some SOP on these deliveries…
Shopee Xpress does have a strict requirement on how its sellers package their items, however, it is unknown what the requirements are given to its delivery crew.
When contacted by AsiaOne, a spokesperson from Shopee stated that they are currently investigating the case and that they’re “taking this issue seriously”.
