JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA — Friends of a 23-year-old Malaysian worker who met with a fatal car accident, just five minutes from his home in Pasir Gudang, are asking for video recordings to provide further details on the cause of the tragedy.
According to Malaysia media China Press, the accident took place last Thursday (8 Dec) afternoon between 12-1 pm, on Pasir Gudang Highway from Taman Johor Jaya heading toward Taman Megah Ria, Masai.
The deceased Ng Zhi Yong, is the family’s only child. Ng’s father passed away a few years ago, and since then, Ng and his mother have been relying on each other.
Ng worked as an operator in a milk bottle factory in Singapore. On the day the incident occured, he was riding his motorcycle heading back home to Kota Masai.
Unfortunately, Ng was involved in the accident which later claimed his life, just 5 minutes before he could reach home to meet his beloved mother.
Ms Chua, Ng’s best friend told the reporter that Ng was still wearing the company uniform when the accident happened.
According to some passers-by at the scene, the victim was dragged under a pick-up truck, until the firefighter team arrived and retrieved him from beneath the truck.
A spokesperson of the Johor Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that they received an accident report on 12.49 pm, 8 December, which involved a pick-up truck and a motorcycle.
They suspected the victim crashed with the pick-up and was later dragged under the vehicle.
The firefighters had to use tools to retrieve the victim from underneath the vehicle, after a first aid treatment at the scene, he was immediately sent to the hospital.
The pick-up driver, a 40-year-old Bangladesh male was unharmed in the accident.
Still conscious when rescued from beneath the truck
“Zhi Yong was still conscious when he was rescued. At that moment, his mother called him, asked him why he didn’t come home so late. Zhi Yong replied that he would go home after a while, ” Ms Chua recalled.
Ms Chua added that the mother called her son again when Zhi Yong arrived at the hospital, but the nurse told her that Zhi Yong was already in coma.
“Medical officers had tried their best to transfuse blood and save his life, but unfortunately, Zhi Yong passed away at 6 pm that day.”
“We really need to know how the car accident happened, otherwise there will be no proof for investigation,” Ms Chua wrote in the Facebook post.
She suspected Ng might have been ran-over by the vehicle until he suffered internal bleeding.
The deceased was cremated on 11 December.
Ms Chua urged any witnesses or someone who might have recorded the accident in their dashcam to contact them via 019-799 7999 to provide further information.
